How to get an interview

The job of the job seeker is to convince the prospective employer that he, the job seeker, is the best candidate for the proposed position. In fact, the interview is a self-presentation, and you can use the experience of emotional intelligence for it.

Attention

You will not have a second chance to make a first impression. You need to draw attention to your person correctly: a neat suit that suits the occasion, possibly complemented by one bright accent. It is very important that the image matches the position you are applying for. It was not appropriate for a banking analyst to come for an interview in jeans; a representative of the creative profession would look strange in a strict business suit.

Attract attention with confidence. Voice, posture gestures - everything should signal that you are ready to occupy the position of interest to you. Therefore, the back is straight, the gaze does not run, the voice does not tremble.

Interest

The main interest for the potential employer is your work experience. Talk about what you really know and what results have been achieved in previous jobs. The phrase "I led the development of a new product" does not play in your favor. “A new product was developed and introduced under my leadership” - your real achievements are of interest. Add numbers if possible. If you were managing sales, tell us how they grew. If you were engaged in documentation, tell us how many contracts were concluded.

Your additional skills may be of interest. But they must be applicable for the work that you want to get. That is, the ability to ski downhill in itself is interesting, but it doesn’t cause any emotions to get the post of system administrator.
Talk about your experience emotionally. All other things being equal, the employer will choose the job seeker who demonstrates a sincere interest in the job.
When preparing for an interview, remember what intonations you have when you talk about what is really important and interesting for you. Remember them and use them at the interview.

A wish

The employer must want you to work for him. Before the interview, learn what the company is doing and what you can do for the business by getting a position. Tell HR how you will be helpful. Do not forget that the voice must be confident, open postures. Your task is to understand for yourself what you are able to do for the business, and convey confidence in your benefits to the company representative.

Let me know that you want to get this job because you are interested in it. Unite yourself and the company representative verbally "we can achieve this, we will do this."

Act

In an advertising presentation, a call to action follows the desire: “call us right now”, “contact us”, “do not miss the chance”, etc. You need to be very careful during the interview with calls to action. On the one hand, you need to make it clear to HR that you are expecting a response from him, on the other hand, this should be done as tactfully as possible.

Thank you for your time and ask when you can wait for feedback.
